Boy, did that artical bring back memories. I am in my 70's. I remember when I was 8or 9 yrs old going to vacation Bible school, where we painted the inside of pint jars for vases. When I got home I went down in the basement and painted all the canning jars. I thought they made pretty vases. I don't think my parents were to happy about my work.

Could someone please tell me why my orchids are being infested with tiny ants and what can I do to save my orchids. I have lost 3 already and I am afraid for the others I still have. These ants are everywhere in the pots.

Thank you

I like to glue sea shells and beads to the outside of plain glass or plastic containers to make them more decorative. Glue guns are an inexpensive tool for doing this and the "hot" type is better than the "warm".

Judy,
These insects are living on decaying matter that can be found in the media. The best preventions are to be sure that the media is not too wet and to empty any extra water in the bottom of the decorative pot after each watering, as orchid roots should not sit in excess water. Also, we would recommend to repot your orchid in new orchid media. For a great repotting video, you may want to check out "Repotting Orchids" on the website.
